Dear Dr. Braverman,

I am 39 yrs. and had 2 miscarriages in a row. I came across your website and impressed about your help for patients to overcome RPL. Let me tell you our story briefly.
Both me and my husbund are 39 yrs. and trying to conceive since 2008. After trying 4-5 cycles with clomid naturally with no success, we met a RE and started IUI. My husband has low semen volume and post wash semen count was between 12-22 million.
2010 april/may IUI --1&2 Clomid - No success.
2010 June - Femara 5mg - Got pregnant and everything was perfect but at 8 weeks no HB was detected and D&E was performed.
2010 Nov - 2011Feb. Femara 5mg. Did 2 IUIs - Unsuccessful.
2011 April - Femara 5mg - IUI - Got pregnant but beta numbers were very low from the begining. Miscarried naturally at 5 weeks. My RE found out that I have elevated anticardiolipin antibodies (my level was 28). I am negative for Lupus anticoagulant.
2011 Sep-Nov. 3 IUI's with femara - No Success.
When I asked my RE whether I need to check the antibodies again he said it matters when you get pregnant again and then start Lovenox. We are helpless right now after unsuccessful IUI's. I am afraid that I will miscarry again if I get pregnant without treating my clotting problem.
I also have slightly elevated blood pressure after my 1st miscarriage.
Dr. Braverman, What would be our next step for a successful pregnancy? Both me and my huband are students and our insurance does not cover infertility. So IVF is not an option for us. We are in Greensboro NC. We would like to consult you and we can meet a doctor here whom you recommends to conveniently work with. If possible we would also like to know the total cost for the testing. Is it possible for you to order the tests directlty to a lab here?
Thank you very much for reading our story and we are desperately waiting for a reply.

Rose you do have a very treatable problem. First your lovenox at a minimum must start with ovulation. we do need to go over your history to see what other treatments might be required, but the good news is that if you arre getting pregnant on your own you should be able get pregnant without IVF.
If you call my office and ask for Judy she will go over all the financials with you. I look forward to assisting you.
