Im writing this as we currently found out today that we have lost our fifth baby to late miscarriage. We are desperately looking for answers. We had our first child in 2005 a girl, and had an uneventful pregnancy until week 36 when I developed preeclampsia with symptoms of HELLP. We then had a pregnancy in 2006 that resulted in a late miscarriage at 13-14 weeks. We had several blood tests done for clotting factors and thyroid issues etc. but everything has been inconclusive as far as the tests have gone. Our OB thought one of the tests was borderline for a clotting factor and we decided that the next pregnancy we would do heparin along with baby asparin and progesterone suppositories. In 2007 we delivered a healthy baby girl. Since then we have tried several more times and all pregnancies have resulted in miscarriage with or without the heparin and progesterone. The most recent pregnancy we decided against treatment other than the aspirin. We heard the heart beat at the OB office at 15 weeks and today we found that the baby had passed at 17 weeks. We have had genetic testing and nothing was found thru this testing. We have also had a SIS ultrasound and found nothing from this either. We are looking for any insight you may have into what continues to cause these problems. Thank you for your time.

We have a number of cases such as yours. We beleive that the majority are due to hgh levels of anti paternal complement fixing anti HLA antibodies that we can test for and treat. Many are initially cuased by underlying immune disorders that predispose you to HEELP that you have already had.
Please fill out a consult request on our website and I would be happy to assist you. There is hope.

Thankyou for your response. I was wondering if any of the current genetic testing that we have had done would have any of the information in it concerning the HLA matching? or if that is a seperate test on its own? I am also wondering if it is the HLA causing this would'nt each subsequent pregnancy result in an earlier and earlier miscarriage due to the immune response? We have had 3 losses at 13-14 weeks and an early loss at 9-10 weeks and the most recent loss at 17 weeks. Are there any other probable causes that you can think of ? And what are your thoughts that the last pregnancy went further than any of the others and we decided against any of our usual tx. other than the baby aspirin.
Sorry for so many questions and thankyou again for your time.

As a rule you are correct that each pregnancy should be shorter in duration but not every pregnancy follows the text book. If you have had the full set of HLA testing done then most of the genetic information will be there. I am also very suspicous of anti paternal HLA antibodies. If you would like us to guide you please fill out a consult request on our website and we will schedule a free 10 minute chat.
