Pregnancy, Miscarriage & Diagnostic Testing
Prevent Miscarriage with World-Renowned Specialists
As accurate identification of the cause of a patient's
multiple miscarriages or recurrent chemical pregnancies is vital, a large part of our efforts
are involved with diagnostic testing.Whether you are experiencing unexplained
infertility or recurrent pregnancy loss, extensive and accurate testing
is imperative to get you started on the path toward fertility treatment. The field of
reproductive immunology provides some impressive testing capabilities and our team, led by Dr.
Braverman has also contributed some refinements to these methods. We may discover
non immune causes of miscarriage or failure of an embryo to implant, or we may find that
immunologic causes are responsible. The immune evaluation considers three situations:
Pre-existing inflammatory conditions such as auto immune disease,
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) in the mother.
Immune rejection due solely to the failure of the embryo to generate immune
tolerance, with no pre-existing inflammatory conditions. This may be due
to genetic disorders or
HLA matching issues between the embryo and the mother, the latter involving testing
of both parents.
- A combination of these two options.
Our clinic utilizes thorough testing at all phases of a patient's
treatment program in order to give us as much information as possible and so allow
us to monitor and guide the conception and pregnancy. We will conduct
our initial tests in order to determine an appropriate treatment program,
then test again following treatment but before pregnancy. If a
failed IVF cycle or a miscarriage occurs, we will conduct specific tests to determine
the unresolved issue. Even after a successful conception, certain tests
allow us invaluable insight into the progress of the embryo and pregnancy.
