I've lost 5 consecutive children with the last being a set of twins this past February 2014. After finally agreeing to a full autopsy, and comparing the notes of placental results from previous pregnancies, the answer they found was my body was attacking a "germ" of some sort - severe inflammation leading through the umbilical cord and child tissue inflammation. After reading your website, and doing much research, I put two and two together and conclude it is due to untreated PCOS.

I was researching treatment for PCOS and came across the drug Aldactone (Spironolactone) which sounds like the perfect treatment to a lot of my problems - excessive hair growth on face, stomach, and some on breasts, extreme hypertension during pregnancy/high blood pressure, severe sensitivity to salt even more so during pregnancy, water retention.

I am currently 5 weeks 1 day pregnant. Do you prescibe this drug during pregnancy? Would you also prescibe an anti-inflammatory which in my case is the problem in each pregnancy starting around week 12 increasing rapidly causing preterm labor? I have a consult with you this Thursday as well via phone.

A better treatment would be Metformin , new evidence shows that PCOS patients during pregnancy develop PD-1 receptors on their T regulator cells leading to death of these cells, loss of tolerance to paternal genetics and all of the above complications that you have noted. These symptoms and even those of hair growth are related to insulin resistance which the glucophage will correct. We do not prescribe aldactone during pregnancy. You should at this point have all of your serum cytokines checked and you may need a more broad spectrum anti inflammatory.

I opted to go directly to Maternal Fetal Medicine instead of seeing my regular doctor first because my last pregnancy they ended up transferring all of my information to MFM. MFM's policy is that they do not see anyone until 7-8 weeks. I can't stress enough I need treatment IMMEDIATELY given the pattern of my history.

The broad spectrum anti-inflammatories that you are speaking of, is this something that you can prescribe and send electronically to my pharmacy after phone consult, or would I have to wait and see MFM in 2 more weeks?

I can not prescribe unless I physically see you in my office, otherwise I can only recommend treatment and guide your doctors on correct management.

Trust me,you do not want Spironolactone! It is actually linked to miscarriages.Last thing you want if you are trying to conceive.Do some reserach.
