Dear Dr. Braverman.

I am considering having you as my doctor in the future, and would like to ask if there is any doctor here in Portland OR, whom you would recommend I start working with? From your webpage I can understand that you often "hand off" your cases to a local doctor later, and this is why I am asking.

I am new to any sort of infertility tests or treatment, and was wondering what is the normal thing to do: do I start working directly with an Infertility Specialist, or with a High Risk Pregnancy doctor, - can only an Infertility Specialist do the tests?

I am 36 years old, no children (yet), and have had 3 miscarriages right after each other in the last 6 months or so. All of them happened around the 6th week. The only good thing is that I seem to get pregnant very easily. I have just been told by my gynecologist that we will start testing (first tests will be a sonohystogram, progesterone serum level, and some for different antibodies). Does this seem like a good place to start?

Thank you very much,
Dianna.

I do think thats a good place to start, basically if there is no evidence of uterine malformations you should then move quickly to immune and thrombophilia which I can help you with . I would not suspect progesterone as a major issue here and serum levels just not reliable. Let me know how ti goes. We can certainly locate an OB for you in your area once you are pregnant ond on your way. We have contacts throughout the countlry.
