Hi Dr. Braverman,

I have just recently been diagnosed with homozygous A1298C, and also with mild hypothyroidism. I have had 5 miscarriages, one in the second trimester. Would you treat this with Lovenox? My doctors have told me that these are not clinically significant enough to cause a second trimester miscarriage and are only wanting to do high dose of folic acid and Baby aspirin since all other thrombophilia tests came back negative. Would you agree if there are no other issues that these two conditions are not enough to cause a second trimester miscarriage?

I agree the A129 mutation is not significant, the hypothyroidism may not be the problem but if you have thryoid antibodies it could be. Also you need a full immune workup as this is most likely not thrombophilic but a classic presentation for some type of immunologic rejection. I would be happy to assist you in the workup and treatment, please call and schedule a phone consultation.
