Hi Dr Braverman,

In my recent blood work my cytokines ratio was found to be 41.4. I am advised to take two injections of Humira to bring levels down before we try to conceive. I have never taken Humira before. In my previous successful pregnancy (after númerous miscarriages) I only did LIT and then lovenox and baby aspirin (and I had a healthy baby girl). My cytokines and NK assays never were an issue. So I am surprised that now it is. Could it be just a fluke? (I feel like this immune testing is a moving target). Or with these numbers am I definitely going to miscarry?

i read online about a link between humira and cancer. My mom had breast cancer and later passed away from ovarian cancer. Therefore I am a bit scared of taking the humira. Would you advise against humira for a patient with such a history?

thanks Dr Braverman.

I would not make a decision on Humira with only Intra cellular cytokine ratios. I prefer to see elevated serum cytokines or a diagnosis consistent with a TNF auto immune disease. You do not have enough informtion in my opinion to use Humira.
