Lit

Dear Dr Braverman. I was wondering if you could give me some advice.

I am currently 13 weeks pregnant but I have been advised that I need more lit treatment. The reason is that myself and my husband have an identical dq alpha match and I need the lit therapy for blocking antibodies. I have asked the doctor if the lit is really necessary and he said there is a chance of miscarrying without it. I am worried about contracting CMV as the pooled donors are not tested for CMV. I have had bloods taken to test for CMV and I am awaiting the results. I am getting IVIG infusions monthly. Would this protect me against CMV if I were to contract it for the pooled donors? Also is it ok for my husband to be in the pool even though we have an identical match? There will be a pool of four donors in total.

I would really appreciate your advice. Kind regards, Siobhan

I do not beleive the LIT is necessary for you at this point. Of course you must always follow the advice of your doctor as I do not know your case, but I would not be using this in my patients at this point.
