Hi,

Do you think it's possible that Mast Cell Activation Disorder or Mastocytosis could be a contributing factor in RPL?

Thanks,
Sophie

yes Im sure id does play a part, as over active histamine release has been associated not only with recurrent pregnancy loss but also higher rates of toxemia at term. Although Mast cells are involved and a neceassary part of implantation(one reason why I advise against routine use of anti histamines) , overactivity is also quite detrimantal and can lead to conversion of dendritic cells to their inflammatory form hence activating othe cells of the immuen system.

Thanks very much for your response. I have scheduled an appointment with you for Jan 2013.

Are you able to test for histamine levels (and do you do this routinely)?

I've read that there are a large number of mast cells in uterine tissue, and that testing blood may not provide an accurate picture. Can you tell me what kind of testing you do? Does it involve an endometrial biopsy?

Thanks!
Sophie

As of this point there are no labs that test histamine levels. Yes I would do an endometrial biopsy and some other immune testing . Ill see you in January.
