Hi Dr. Braverman,

I would like to know the long term effects of neupogen. Are there any risks to those who use it during pregnancy for RPL or to the baby? More so, do we know that Neupogen is safe say, 15 years down the road to those who used it and to the babies as they grow up? There doesn't seem to be studies on this. People seem rather concerned for it's off label use for RPL. I wanted to get your expertise on the matter. I look forward to your response. Thank you! Sarah

no long term studies but case reports have not shown any affect on mother or baby for over 10 years, some at 20 years. Not sure of those that are concerned what they have read but Im happy to address it, I havent seen anything.

Thank you Dr. Braverman for the reply! So when do you determine too much neupogen is too much? How high do you allow the WBC to get? I had read someone developed an enlarged spleen that almost ruptured. I don't know the details, I had just read it was caused by the neupogen.

yes you are correct that is a compication of neupogen , that in the infertility area has been quite small. I dont like to set limits on the WBC , I follow the clinical picture and the immune findings to make that decision.
