Hello, I just wondered if I could have your professional opinion about the role that ureaplasma and mycoplasma play in infertility. I have unexplained infertility (6 years, 4 treatments, all tests carried out including lap, hysteroscopy, biopsy and immune testing) The only thing that has been found is ureaplasma and after taking a long antibiotic course I am starting to notice an improvement in my cycles (although all doctors have told me in the past that my "observations" of light/scanty menstruation will have no impact on fertility) I have read many papers online but there still seems to be some ambiguity on this issue. I am also wondering if the strong antibiotics could have cleared other uterine bacteria which has not been tested for specifically? I would really value your opinion.

This is one of the papers I have read: http://www.springerlink.com/content/b8t6p01v3831773p/

chronic endometritis is a known cause of reproductive failure but not very common. Yes I agree the mycoplasma could be a red herring and other pathogens might have been treated with the antibiotics. Before you say that immune testing was done , I would love to know what was tested as most panels are far from complete on that subject.
