New studies show that many cases of RPL(recurrent pregnancy loss) , may be related to failure of the endometrial cells to "properly" change or "decidualize". It is this change in the cells that seems to bring about the production of many chemicals that assist in the implantation process. It showed that abnormal embryos (genetically abnormal) fail to bring about the necessary changes in the endometrial tissue, but that even with normal embryos sometimes there is an inherent defect in the endometrial cells to undergo the proper changes.
It leads to the conclusion that there is a "window" of receptivity in these decidual cells and if they are not functioning correctly from the very beginning of implantation then many of the pregnancies will fail.
It also leads to the conclusion of how important the timing is for starting many of the endometrial modulating agents and that many (as we do here at BRI, must be started well ahead of implantation to begin to asist in this conversion. including medications such as lovenox, prednisone and even G-CSF.
