Dr. Braverman,

I had five miscarriages (2 were camicals), i just turned 33, i got pregnant the first time when i was 30. all miscariages were at around 6 weeks. after 5 miscariages, i took about 5 months off and tried again, this time i was prescribed prednisone and lovenox. But unfortunatelly can not get pregnant and i used to get pregnant very easy. i tried 2 times with clomid and trigger shot (was taking prednisone a few days before trigger), last month i just did a natural cycle IUI (that is how i got pregnant the first 5 times), and started taking prednisone when the test showed the surge, the next morning i did IUI. did not get pregnant. Do you think me taking prednisone before i actually ovulate causes me not to get pregnant? i was also told to take 30 mg starting the day of IUI for 5 days and then go back on 20. Should I wait a day or 2 after IUI to start the prednisone?

No this was not a result of the prednisone, but more likely the result of not having a clear diagnosis and management plan. Why dont you fill out a consult form on our website and we will schedule a free consult to reveiw your case in detail.

Dr. Braverman,

thank you for your quick response. I will definitely contact your office to set up a consultation. Right now I have only a few days until my ovulation and IUI. I am on a natural cycle and no monitoring, just doing the clear blue ovulation tests at home. Can you advice on when should i take the prednisone, when i see the peak the day before IUI? or should I wait a day or 2 after IUI?

at this point I would tell my pateints to start a couple of days after the surge to be sure the prednisone did not interfere with ovulaiton.
