hello Dr. BravermanIn april I became pregnant from my first fresh cycle attempt. I lost the baby at 9 weeks due to trisomy 22. I was put on 30 mg of prednisone for the IVF/after process... I was on it for a total of 3 months. It did quite a number on me. I gained 18 pounds and have had worse arthritis than ever after being on it... I also felt totally crazy, some skin rashes, etc... my doctor (Barad) put me on it because I have 2 auto immune markers, no full on auto immune disorder, but a little arthritis. So now we're doing the frozen transfer aug 7th, I have 3 embryos, trying to decide how may to put up... They are all grade A, 3 day... I'm 34 years old)... I'm supposed to start prednisone in a few days, 10 mg this time and I'm terrified of it. My RE can't guarantee that it will help, he just think it "may" help...What's your experience with prednisone? do you prescribe it? It's such a dramatic drug, it really left me scared about it.Thank you so much for reading this.-Mary

We use prednisone often and if taken when needed and tapered in the proper fashion the long term effects are minimal. Joint pain is not uncommon after stopping the medication while on a long protocol. Tapering will lessen this effect but sometimes restarting at a low dose will help.

Again I rarely prescribe the medications based on only history but very detailed laboratory testing . So i couldnt comment on your treatment with so little information.

You are at a fine center so Im sure they will guide you correctly . should you have any problems with success after these transfers i would be happy to consult with you.
