I have messaged you previously about my elevated cytokine test and you had mentioned finding the underlying cause. I do have mild psoriasis. It is always on my elbows in small patches and occasionally I get small patches on my knee, leg or foot. My question is can psoriasis potentionally be my "underlying casuse" And if so, does elevated cytokines from psoriasis need Humira tretment? I know you said you use it in rare cases. If not what are those "rare" cases?

I am cycling with another clinic and unfortunately only have to decide by Friday whether to take the Humira. Personally, I just want to take the intralipids and prednisone.

Also, prednisone does always make my psoriasis go away.

I think most of these cases would do well with prednisone alone. I reserve Humira in cases where "serum " cytokines are measured and then I can asses the need for Humira as well as the dose of prednisone I would use. Most centers do not check serum cytokines but intracellular cytokines and only ratios not isolated levels.

Ya, I wish they would test that! I should have asked for it but I had just planned on taking the Humira but then really starting having second thoughts about and now of course its too late to get those tested. Ive taking Humira twice...once for a successful IVF (son passed at 23 weeks) and then I did a 2nd round for a FET that got cancelled and it gives me irregular heartbeat and makes me very sick and achy. Not to mention I am terrified of major side effects. It is not a cost thing as I have it ready to go in my fridge....it just scares me!
