Dr. B
I have suffered 3 miscarriages in the last 10 months, and 5 in the last 3 years. Only one was genetically confirmed as Trisomy 18 and I am still waiting on the results from the D&C that I had 10 days ago. I will start by saying that I have 3 grown children (20,19,18 yrs old, I am 39 yrs old) I was diagnosed with Hashimotos 2 years ago which has been kinda controlled by Levoxyl but my Antithyroid antibodies are at 700+. I had a genetic/immune panel done 18 months ago and my Antithrombin 3 was elevated at 130 but they retested 2 weeks later and it was at 100, my maternal grandmother has deep vein thrombosis and theres a heavy history of Angina and blood clots with the women in my family. I am also RH negative (A-)and my husband is O+ though Rhogham is up to date, we had antigen testing to confirm that my husand is DD and CC ( I was misdiagnosed as being sensitized with big C antibodies after the loss of my son at 14 weeks gestation due to a fetal bladder outlet obtruction), this was the first pregancy with my current husband and I feel like this pregancy triggered something that is causing my body to reject all other pregnancies because after that loss my other preganancies starting progressing this way....... at 6-7 weeks a heartbeat is detected, either the heartbeat is strong but the fetal growth is a few days behind or vice versa, a follow up U/S is done at 8 weeks which will show a slowing in the heartbeat which will then prompt a 9 week U/S to confirm fetal demise. I have been under the care of a RE (frankly have no problem getting pregnant whether spontaneous or drug induced), had all the lectures "your eggs are old", "your FSH is too high", "you have no chance with your own eggs you need a donor". My question is......"If my eggs are so awful why I am I getting pregnant all the time??????" "And isn't it just a little strange that every pregnancy ends the same????" I always run a fever by my 6th week of pregnancy and I've said to my husband many times, "I feel like there is something wrong, I feel like my body is fighting off the pregnancy like its a flu". I have consulted with 5 RE's who all say the same thing, "theres really no treatment for recurrent miscarriage". I have fertility coverage on my insurance (I live in Massachusetts where its mandatory) but don't have alot of money to do IVIG therapy. What else can we do and would you work with my local RE to help me STAY PREGANT?? My husband doesn't have children of his own and we want a baby so desperately! Any suggestions would be helpful
Thanks so much
Sher

You are most likely correct that an immune issue has been triggered with your current partner. You should have high resolution HLA testing to confirm this. With that said this can be treated with great success. Yes I can and many times to coordinate immune testing and treatment with your local RE, as you said you are getting pregnant we just have to help you keep it.
Please call my office for a telephone consult and send me whatever records and tests you have already had. We can get to work on this and there are many options for treatment not just IVIG.
I hope I can be of service to you.
