0% Morphology and relation to RPL

Hi Dr. Braverman,
I have a few questions for you re: low morphology and if it can be linked to RPL.

My husband has normal counts and motility but 0% morphology. We have been doing ICSI to help with this issue.

I tend to be a low responder. I have normal FSH but my AMH is .8 which is low for my age. I am only 31 years old.

We have had 3 chemical pregnancies over the past 12 months. 1 was with an IUI and 2 were with IVF.

A few questions:

Could the RPLs be due to a sperm issue given the low morphology or is it likely an egg issue given my low AMH?
How often should my husband ejaculate leading up to an ICSI procedure? Can more frequent ejaculation help improved low morphology?
Once an egg is fertilized with ICSI does that solve any concerns with the sperm? Or should we still be concerned with the health of the sperm?

Any insight or thoughts that you would be willing to share would be appreciated.

yes the low morphology absolutely can be playing a part. a healthy egg can sometimes correct the problem of being fertilized by an abnormal sperm but when both are abnormal it can lead to a poor quality embryo and hence early miscarriages. At least run a DNA fragmentation test and see what you are dealing wtih . Then there are remedies to try and improve the fragmentation and morphology. Good Luck.

yes studies show more ejaculations improve DNA fragmentation , one study having the men ejaculate for 7 days in a row prior to donating. the thinking is that it does not allow the new sperm time to be damaged while in the testicle
