Dosage of lovenox

Dear Dr. Braverman,

I have a positive APA result for which I'm being prescribed Lovenox and baby aspirin.

I was told do do 40mg (1 shot/day) of Lovenox starting cycle day 6 and increase it to 80mg (2 shots/day) of Lovenox upon positive pregnancy test.

Is this typical? It sounds a bit excessive to me..

I dont know your case so I cant comment about your treatment, but we have had many patients on lovenox 40mg twice daily , its important to follow the blood levels carefully and monitor blood flow to the uterine cavity.

Is Lovenox considered totally safe for mom & fetus? Are there any major side effects to look out for?

I have been using lovenox now for over 20 years and have never had a serious complication with mother or baby. You should always be sure to take Calcium as there are reports of bone loss in 1% of long term users, we recommend 1200mg/ day.

Please always follow the advice of your doctor.
